Protect Our Oceans, Preserve Our Future: Safeguard Marine Life for a Healthier Planet

1.Peace Foundation has extensive experience addressing the significant challenges faced by Karachi's marine environment, including pollution, overfishing, habitat destruction, and climate change, all of which threaten local livelihoods and biodiversity. Over the past few years, we have successfully conducted over 50 beach clean-ups, removing approximately 10 tons of plastic waste from Karachi’s coastline. Additionally, we have launched plastic reduction campaigns reaching over 15,000 individuals and trained more than 500 local fisherfolk in sustainable fishing practices. Our efforts have focused on restoring critical habitats such as mangroves, where we have planted over 20,000 mangrove saplings, and coral reef restoration, with ongoing monitoring of ecosystem health. We also foster collaboration between local communities, government bodies, and NGOs to ensure the long-term success of these initiatives. As a result, we have seen a measurable reduction in marine pollution, increased adoption of sustainable fishing practices by 30% among local fisherfolk, and enhanced community participation in marine conservation, with over 10,000 community members actively involved in conservation efforts.
